thanks yes, when I first began, that was constantly my problem. a lot of blind buying and hoping for the best, and cursing at the screen when things didn't go my way, sometimes holding onto losers too long, or getting too greedy with some picks, then seeing it go back to where it started. I started off as a 'machine gun' trader, buying anything I thought was cool, and selling at the first sign of 'oh crap' lol. I've managed to tone it down, and wanted to take more of a sniper approach. Calm, calculated, patient, and most of all, accurate (hence the name choice). Working at it

decided to make a system based around (believe it or not), the least stressful way to trade. I followed a friend's mantra that trading shouldn't be stressful. Trade the chart, set stop losses and just let the cards fall into place. My strategy involves a lot of looking for trend reversals / continuation patterns over time, and taking a shot if I feel it's a good bet.

Glad to be here too, I've been following some of the active blogs around here to pick the brains of fellow more experienced investors to see if I can learn a thing or two!

Holding my position. Expecting a little bounce back downwards after the 13,250 mark, will be interesting to see if it's the start of a cup & handle Going camping over the weekend, so see you guys next week!

As I said in an earlier post, my system would have triggered a buy on July 26.

My strategy for trading the DOW is quite simple. Probably too simplistic for a lot of traders here, but I try to go with an effective, stress free approach as possible.
    1. price crosses the 20/50 day SMA
    2. momentum shift from negative to positive
    3. Confirm there are no imminent reversal patterns

Might seem a bit consertavite, and my approach to individual stocks is a little more aggressive than my TSP strategy, mainly because stock market trading allows for certain things like stop/limit orders and not limiting you to 2 trades a month / IFT delay

I may take a bite on BLMN next week - Bloomin Brands owns Carabas and Bonefish Grills.

Finally some volume, and the DOW is now sitting at that critical resistance point. Hoping it can break through in the final trading hour

MRVL reporting after hours, also keeping my eye on that. Ripping into the close which is a good sign.
BREW stop loss triggered, took a 4% hit on that one
OCZ buy limit triggered yesterday at 4.55, love this stock. my stock portfolio is up over 25% this year thanks to riding the roller coaster on this stock (short above $6, buy under $5)

I just realized you are located in Honolulu - my daughter was with the 25th ID several years back.

Awesome, which base? Schofield? I did 6 years in the AF, and always tried to get stationed at Hickam but could never get the assignment, so I got out and been working as a GS civilian ever since. Doing IT work for the Geological Survey now, liking life a lot better, Hawaii is awesome, especially if you're a surfer haha.

Dang, I need to add in another rule to my trading system, dump stocks before earnings. I base a lot of my trades on technicals, and that never predicts earnings reports. Coulda got a nice 9% play on MRVL, instead I'll be selling it at a break even or loss. Oh well, lessons learned everyday, at least it wasn't a total disaster.

We recently spent close to a week in Honolulu on our way back to Okinawa, and dropped by Kaneohe MCBH. Wow, the homes on base are spectacular for base housing! Msgts have big single unit homes, and the officers have palacial estates overlooking the bay. If only HI had DOD schools, that would be the place for me!

Totally, Kaneohe MCBH is probably nicest base I've ever been to. Great surf spots with limited access, uncrowded even on good days! Schools over there aren't so bad, just stay away from Waianae and Kalihi lol.

The one crappy thing about Hawaii is the cost of property, it's a tad high lol

Rising channel vs. LT resistance, round 1... ding!

Staying bullish, the 12-month S&P chart showed me a LT continuation pattern that has broken to the upside. I think it keeps going in positive territory for at least another month.
