Really interesting Jim Cramer Tweets this afternoon. He is watching VIX products going down followed by Margin calls which bring the market up. He says the next one at 2:45 could be big.

November Jobs Report

by tsptalk on Yesterday at 09:59 AM
Nonfarm payrolls increased 263,000 for the month while the unemployment rate was 3.7%, the Labor Department reported Friday. The payrolls number was well above the 200,000 estimate, while the unemployment rate was in line. Average hourly earnings jumped 0.6% for the month, double the estimate, and 5.1% annually versus the 4.6% expectation. -- CNBC

TSP Talk: Market mixed a day after Fed triggered rally

by tsptalk on Yesterday at 02:11 AM
Thursday was a day of digestion for stocks after the explosive Fed driven rally on Wednesday. We saw the Dow shed about 200 of Wednesday's 700+ point gain. The Nasdaq held up well, but was basically flat - as the S&P 500 and small caps. The I-fund led again after the dollar broke down sharply as the market adjusts to the less hawkish Fed. Yields also broke down giving the F fund a very healthy gain.

TSP Talk: Fed turns the pullback into a monster rally

by tsptalk on 12-01-2022 at 02:11 AM
It's incredible how much power one person can have over the stock market. The Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell spoke, and the stock market soared. After a poor start to the week for stocks (indices down almost 2%) the Fed stepped in and declared that their measures against inflation have been working, and they will be able to slowdown the pace of the interest rate hikes. And just like that, the morning losses turned into an explosive afternoon rally, and that's how November ended.

TSP Talk: Flags giving mixed signals

by tsptalk on 11-30-2022 at 02:11 AM
I did watch the morning action yesterday up until about the TSP deadline, but then I was on the road for 5+ hours. However I did see that the indices barely moved from the time I left my office at around noon until I got back online to check out the charts after the close. So it was a mixed, kind of quiet Tuesday after Monday's selloff. There was no rebound or bounce, but no tack on selling either and the charts are telling an interesting story of a market that may have an excuse to go either

TSP Talk: Protests in China starting to impact the market

by tsptalk on 11-29-2022 at 02:17 AM
The seasonality chart did its job yesterday as it suggested weakness on the Monday after a positive Thanksgiving week of trading. Of course the headlines helped the bears as China deals with massive protests over Covid restrictions, and the market is worried about the ramifications of that situation. The Dow lost almost 500-points with similar percentage losses in the broader indices. Small caps lagged, yields and were mostly flat, and the dollar was up. The latter helped put the pressure on
