For the next five years you might comtemplate a DCAing position in the C fund. Don't worry about the daily fluctuations just keep the money coming and acquire as many shares as you can - that's how you'll make money in my opinion.
Glad I found this site! Quick background, former state employee for NJ, upon leaving rolled over balance of an optional deferred compensation account to my TSP. Now a fed employee for the last 18 months (NYC) with approximately 18.5 years till early retirement (special FERS section) and contributing 8% toward TSP with the goal of 10% in July and an additional 1% per raise as they occur. Currently 100% invested in the L2030.
So now what? That's my big question. I don't know where to begin as far as figuring out a stategy. I know there is tons of information on the site, but I don't know where to start or what to concentrate on. I'm one of those guys that will probably be moderately hands on once I get going, but I need a starting point; I'm also not a natural "finance person". Thanks in advance.

Welcome PSONY
I just signed up last week. I feel your pain. I personally am looking closely at Sentiment Survey and Intrepid Timer. They both seem to have really good returns. However, I am a bit concerned since one is totally invested in G and the other is totally invested in S. Not wanting to take a leap of faith in either direction, I chose to invest 50/50 in G/S. Holding my breath until the next BUY/SELL indicator.
PSONY, Welcome aboard. This is a great place to learn.
May the force be with us.
Welcome PSONY.
Best of luck!
