    Default MSN Portfolio tool

My individual account decided to change its gains/losses tool on me unexpectedly, so while surfing the net I came across this.....I now have it set as my homepage. I like this tool as you can enter the same stock multiple times (for multiple purchases at different times/prices) and it tracks the total gains/losses.
(The lower right corner shows 2 purchases at different times/prices of the highlighted stock (LMT), yet the "main page" shows 1 listing of this stock with averaged prices).

Not sure who may like or need this, but figured I'd share it. I tried Yahoo, but I didnt like their layout.
You need to have a hotmail/windows live account for this.

No jokes about my small holdings my individual account. I just opened it appx 45 days ago. I could not get an example screenshot to show, so had to use my own.
To track TSP funds, I use the windows sidebar "stocks" widget. It follows realtime, and I have it tracking the above funds, plus DWCPF, GSPC, and EFA.

The widget is available here http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDeta...ab9c&bt=1&pl=1

Heres a side-by-side of how the widget reflects changes within the market every few seconds.

The portfolio manager updates as well throughout the day upon loading the page.

Hint: watching your stocks too closely will drive you insane.

lol...I dont watch them all day, but this just makes it easy to track whats going on without sorting through charts & videos at the end of the day (I do that before buying)...or end of the week -whenever I get the chance.
The portfolio manager thing I like because it shows my actual gains/losses in monitary amounts instead of percentages.
My individual account showed this (after logging in, then sorting though endless tabs and links) but they included the trading fee in the gains/losses amounts....so short term, Im always down on everything by $9.95 (until I make gains to offset the fee...which will be years)
I could delete the entry & create my own minus the trading fee, but they just changed this option. Seeing all my purchase gains down by $9.95 because of a stupid traders fee is depressing. I want to know what my holdings are doing, not a reminder of their charges keeping me in the red.
Its all long term, and because I make small purchases, the $9.95 traders fee eats up profits and will be costly for me, but Im trying to look past this.....like FAB1 stated, I'll spend more than $20 at starbucks.

Currently my comission rate is $4.95 and could go to 30 free trades a month if I put up $25K in a separate bank account. I'll put up the cash eventually but right now I want every dollar working in this bull market.

I use an Excel spreadsheet and have the MSN stock quote(add on) and update everything at the end of the day, with one click.
