Thread: Apple

  1. #1

    Default Apple

I've been looking for an opportunity to get into Apple for some time, and do have an open order in just above the 200 SMA and EMA's, just in case we hit it.

My original thought was that it would be a longer term investment (have you ever seen how crowded those Apple stores are?) but this big old H&S pattern is a concern.

I'll use a stop below the 200-day MA's if my order gets hit. Seems like a fair risk / reward if I can get in near 232.

    Common H&S pattern...

Apple's parobolic move off of the late November low may have run its course. Now the question is, what kind of pullback will it see before it will be time to jump back in? Apple has the numbers to back up this price so I don't see too much damage being done, but here are some possible targets for a pullback.

By the way, I did buy Apple back when I was looking at it in 2008 (see 1st post above) but of course I never hold onto anything to make any real money. I have bought and sold it a few times since.

I really need to have multiple accounts. A trading account, and an investement account. I just have a hard time holding onto anything that has a chart that looks like it needs to pullback.

Well, if you could get shares at $425, I think you'd be in an excellent position to make some good money. I doubt we'll see it get that low, but $440 (@ the 200 EMA) would be a nice buy point as well.

Agree, $425 would be nice, and since gaps tend to get filled...

$440 is actually near the 50 EMA. The 200 EMA is currently below $400. It actually hit that (200) 3 times in 2011. I don't know if we'd get that lucky but those EMA's are rising fast.

    I stand corrected. Thanks.

Tom, looks like $440 is out of the question. AAPL wants to keep rocketing higher. Now at $522. All I can say is... Wow!

Crazy action, but I do think $440 is still a small possibility. $450 - $460 would probably get me in too. I think anything between $430 and $460 is a buy zone - if we can be that patient.

Well, I guess when you sell treasuries, then buy AAPL stock, the price of AAPL tends to go up, Up, UP... Guess who is doing this?

At $500 billion, Apple is worth more than Poland

The only question remaining... when will it become "overvalued"?

Not anytime soon it appears. AAPL's P/E is still incredibly cheap for a tech stock considering its steep ascent. I don't currently own it, but have in the past.

I believe AAPL is responsible for most of the market's strength. Being a major component of $SPX and $COMPQ, it 's pulling them both up day after day. Even on market down days, AAPL still looks strong. Quite an amazing ride we're witnessing.

Agree. I still think that gap will get filled and test of the breakout level will happen some time this year. And that will take down the indices when we finally get a correction. But exactly when is anybody's guess??? This month, this summer, this fall??
