Huge earnings report from Amazon and it's zooming after hours to new all-time highs. While I hate chasing, I think it has to be bought here. Great looking chart after a 16 month consolation / basing formation.

It broke out above 2080 after hours and it looks like the 2020 - 2050 area may be the support that would have to hold. Target for this leg could be about 2300 - 2800.

After sleeping and digesting the gains from the earnings report for a few days, Amazon is on the move again. The report was so strong that it may be the go to stock when other stocks are down and no one is buying anything else.

I didn't think AMZN would fill this gap so quickly, but everything is going down with the tide. It's probably time to make your shopping list of good companies you've been wanting to buy but got away from you. I've been trading it, but bought some the other day for 1,983.5694. I should have waited a little longer. It went below 1900 today.

Individual stocks aren't on many people's minds right now, but I thought Amazon may be trying to show us a light at the end of the tunnel. It was up on Wednesday, broke above resistance, but now faces the dreaded 200-day EMA in a bear market. If it can get back above 1900 the rest of the market may take notice. (disclosure: I still own it).

What 50 and 200-day averages? The close is key, though.

I bought @ 958.00 on 15 May 2017. I sold @ 1,936.05 on 4 Mar. Total return was 103%. It has been resilient during this pandemic... falling into the 1,600's... and bouncing back. I had an awesome run. It's one for the books.

Amazon will hire 100,000 workers to keep up with the surge in demand

It will temporarily increase pay for employees in the US by $2 per hour.

Also announced today they are closing their Pantry operation until further notice. I wonder if they will really need an additional 100,000 workers without that function of their business.
