    This should be controversial...

    The great gluten-free scam

Once, pasta and bread were store cupboard staples. Now, many of us are replacing them with ‘healthier’ gluten-free foods. But are they really better for us?

You have to be joking, corn helps your degestion the fiber that's not digested just makes you pass everything a little faster and scrapes the walls of the intestines preventing polyps. Don't fall for this dung, it's just another one of those popular things that is really not true, you are digesting food with your minds. Unless you are allergic or have celiac disease wheat is good for you and always has been. STUPID stuff! FALSE SCIENCE to make more money!

lol.gif WRONG! You have to be joking. If corn would kill you all of my family would have died prematurely and they lived to be very old. I love corn eat it all the time and so does my wife, my kids, my parents did and their parents did, our families live longer than the average Americans. Get off the liberal scare tactics, corn is good and boiled peanuts with a lot of salt won't kill you either. Carbohydrates have their place in a normal diet. CO2 is good for the humans and plants! Hugo Chavez was a dictator, and Che Guevara was a racist that wrote extensively about the superiority of whites and was a murderer.

How hard was it to eliminate corn and wheat, FMW? When I open my pantry I'm having a hard time finding something that doesn't contain at least one of those ingredients. I have read some things, a while back, documenting that wheat was bad for us...but I don't remember the details and never did anything with it.

i don't know about quitting corn and wheat because i could never do it, i wouldn't even want to. give me four fresh sweet corn roasting ears, a loaf of sourdough bread, and plenty of salted butter, and i'll harmlessly sit there slobbering and smacking my lips grunting all night long like an eighth grader backstage at the high school cheerleader tryouts.

one time i did the austerity/fasting thing and laid off the barley and hops for two weeks, but it was horrible, felt like crap, it wasn't pretty. when i started up again some people actually cheered and bought me a beer. apparently i'm not much fun when i stop drinking.

A couple friends of mine were telling me about this book about eating for your blood type. And apparently your blood type is a significant factor in what types of food you body is best and worst at digesting. I haven't had a chance to read the book yet by myself, but both the people I know who have highly recommended it.

Gluten-free! Cuts down on bloating and gas. Maybe folks just want to cut down on farts. Be fart-free, save the ozone! I hear that's a real problem with millions of farting cows releasing methane gas.

that's why we kill them and chop them up into little shrink-wrapped pieces for sale at the grocery store, to save the planet. get with the program, and quit farting so much, you know that's taxable, right?

Why would I want to stop farting? That is free entertainment for all. Ok, mainly for me.

On a more serious note I think there is something to this, and my guess is that different folks react differently to these food types. Maybe the blood type idea is solid. I know i can drink milk all day, while some people are lactose intolerant. But I hear dairy in general can be a demon, in addition to wheat. Sugar is another bad ingredient to many, as is salt. None of us can really tell what works and what doesn't until we experiment.

I'm starting to wonder if long-term exposure to a food that doesn't agree with you could cause long-term damage, such as nerve damage or intestinal problems. I have been experiencing nerve problems for years with no conclusive diagnosis or solution. What if the fix is a simple diet of barbecued chicken, beef, pork and fish with greens and fruits, but hold the sourdough or cornbread? I can handle that.

    I'm looking into it.
