How social groups work

Random thoughts about what I learned about how social groups work on this mb.

Does anybody know an easy way to get here besides clicking on a username that is a member of the group, viewing public profile and then clicking on the group they are in?

How does everyone else navigate to here?

    Oh, much easier. Thanks.

Does everyone know that anyone, including non-logged-innies, can view all posts in a social group? You just can't post unless you're a member.

But as long as you can find it you can see it. And if you can find the 'join group' button then you get instant membership and can post away.

Potential wild west you got going on here FAB1. Last group I joined was by invite and it was somewhat moderated as far as entry then. It was an issue because non-members can see what members where saying amongst themselves and then object to or debate 'private' discussions among the group on the open board, hence beltwaytalk.

Shouldn't be a problem in a thread named 'Happy Hour' because if someone refuses to be happy then they ideally would avoid places named 'Happy', but it could happen.

Burro I get here by Clicking on my User Name at the top right when in message board and that will take you to your page, Groups are at the right of the page.

I think we should leave our politics at the door as that seems to be the topic that causes friction. HOT!

I wasn't thinking along political lines with that post.

I don't know if some of the animosity wasn't based on just not being invited to be a part of a 'club'. I like the idea of an open place to let loose. Everybody in the pool, good idea.

I was just bringing up the potential that some might not feel comfortable in a 'looser' environment and not join, but have their own 'need to know' what folks are saying and scan the posts here.

And then rather than wade into the muck, might tend to drag it out in the open with a few well placed references and bait innappropriate responses.

    It has happened before...

Just be aware that what you post here is in no way private or limited to only members. That's what I was trying to say. I don't think that would limit my speach, but have to watch out for the quiet ones that will pick it apart.

So this is just like real life?
