I don't see that we have an ace up our sleeve to give us the edge for a victory in this trade war. We already blinked. At best we get back to status quo. Then we get the BS from the politicos saying how great we did and how we won.
May the force be with us.

China state media warn US investment curbs will have ‘significant repercussions’

The Global Times says possible investment restrictions is the latest U.S. attempt to decouple from China.

The White House has discussed curbing some U.S. investments in China, a source familiar with the matter told CNBC last Friday.

Still, the state-owned outlet criticized the move by the U.S. politicians, saying that they “seem to believe that a decoupling from China will be simple” and “won’t significantly impact its economy.”

China is open to a partial US trade deal

Bloomberg News reported, citing an official, China is prepared to accept a partial trade deal as long as no more tariffs are imposed by President Donald Trump. The report added that Beijing would offer non-core concessions like purchases of agricultural products in return, but not budge on major sticking points between the two nations.

White House economic advisor Kudlow says there’s ‘a lot of momentum’ to finish China trade deal

    KEY POINTS

Top White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow sees trade negotiations with China accelerating toward a more complete agreement.

“For the skeptics out there, I appreciate that and I respect that but I’m telling you that there’s a lot of momentum and there’s agreement on both sides,” Kudlow said.

Representatives for President Donald Trump’s administration are expected to meet with top Chinese trade negotiations in the next couple of weeks.

Yeah, no offense, but the guy who, back in2008 when we were already several months into one of the worst Recessions ever, said "There is no recession, the Bush Recovery is going strong" is probbly the last guy I would listen to.
The "skeptical side" Larry refers to, is when the WH declared a "small trade deal" a few days ago, only to have China immediately debunk that, and said they need more meetings and more agreements before even signing something small.

I would trust Chinese news sources more at this point,on whether we're reaching an agreement.
Othwerwise, I just see Kudlows statment the same as Trumps announcement of a preliminary deal a few days ago...basically "KeepingMarketUpWithRumors-icitis"

The international summit where Trump and Xi were planning to sign a trade deal has been suddenly canceled

    KEY POINTS

The cancellation was due to protests, according to Chilean President Sebastian Pinera.

Trump and Xi were scheduled to meet at the APEC summit to discuss a possible “phase one” deal that the two countries are close to finalizing.

A proposed hike in public transport fares sparked nationwide protests in Chile this month.

Trump Threatens Substantially More Tariffs If No China Deal

“If we don’t make a deal, we’re going to substantially raise those tariffs,” he said Tuesday in a speech to the Economic Club of New York. “They’re going to be raised very substantially. And that’s going to be true for other countries that mistreat us too.”
