In case anyone is following, the Shanghai Index is down just slightly tonight. Nothing for U.S. stocks to worry about in the morning yet...

Shanghai and the Hang Seng are up big right now.

Question is though, why are all of a sudden people caring about the China market now, only after it's already went down 30 or so %?

That's what I was writing about 3-4 months ago when it was tanking. Now that U.S. stocks are falling everyone's looking for reason. There are a few reasons but yesterday, for the first time they (the Chinese gov't) actually said they don't care about the trade war, which means resolving it may not be a concern - so it could get worse. Impacts earnings, inflation, etc.

It's like we all knew interest rates were going to rise all year. The 10-year yield hit 3% months ago, but now stocks are selling off on it?

Will the people of the CPC do their duty as citizens and continue buying?

Chinese stocks had their worst single day since the coronavirus pandemic began, amid a ratcheting up of tensions between the U.S. and China, but futures on the main U.S. markets were only modestly lower. The Shanghai Composite fell 4.5%, but is still up 11% over the last month.
