Most individuals haven't the foggiest notion how to buy gold and silver. I would recommend a google search on the following:
goldmoney
everbank
monex
Perth Mint
for starters
As these conversations are taking place anyway, let's keep them in their own thread. I like gold, I have a little, would like to have more.
Best of Luck!

Thanks to Skypilot for starting this thread. Some of us assume everyone knows how to purchase gold and silver.
As far as discussions in the TSP 'market' section go, however, gold is very relevant as gold serves to affirm dollar direction which directly affects our TSP accounts.
I think discussions regarding the relevance of precious metals as a commodity is great, like oil, energy, etc. Just seems that there is a lot of interest in precious metals in and of themselves, and this would be a good way to seperate the discussions into less confusing and more usable threads.

A few years ago, I would have agreed, but the price of gold nipping at the heels of $700 is suggesting it is more of a CURRENCY than a commodity. CURRENCY is a relevant market topic as it pertains to our TSP investments. Relegating Gold to 'commodity' only status is wishful thinking on the part of some.Originally Posted by SkyPilot
I heard the TSP Board was (at one time) looking at adding a real estate type fund to our investment options. Why cant we be offered a precious metals investment option? Seems simple and sound.

When the TSP has a precious metals fund...I will be selling most of mine.
Wizard,
How did you squeeze that response in there ahead of me. Everyone is going to think I'm a copycat.
