    1. Jobless rate much higher than expected.

    2. Oil spikes up again.

    The old one-two punch.

Dang. It's getting hard to make money in the down market these days.....

    Knockdown punch number 3:

American's net worth declined by 1.7 TRILLION the first quarter-

    http://money.cnn.com/2008/06/05/news...ion=2008060513

as debt soared and home prices fell.

Folks- you thought the "subprime" was bad?

Just wait until all that credit card debt out there can't be paid back. THAT will be an even bigger hit on our economy than the subprime fiasco.

I'm working hard to try and pay down everything, but I have a feeling that we'll all be staying close to home, (gas prices), and eating from our gardens more in the future.

Have you planted your "Victory over Inflation" garden yet?

(I've got tomatoes, green peppers, potatos, and green beans planted now. I may want to till over some more land this week, and plant more potatos. We may need it. )

I'm in the middle of trying to get the soil ready for planting next year, I have 100% Clay with no Topsoil, and raised beds take some prep work. To beat inflation and get better vegetables mmmm! I've been going to the local Farmer's market. Prices there are looking especially good - and so's the produce.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Oil prices surged for the second straight day, rising at one point to within 41 cents of the all-time intraday record, on a dollar decline that stemmed from a weak jobs report and a forecast of $150-a-barrel oil.[more]

I keep telling you guys....$150 oil by the end of the year. Pause after that - new Administration and all that - but it will be $200 by 2010. That's the targets.

Oil doesn't care who gets elected, the industry rules the White House and Congress regardless of who sits in it.

    Reuters
Oil surges more than $9 to record $137
Friday June 6, 1:28 pm ET
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Oil roared more than $9 higher to a record over $137 a barrel on Friday on the weaker dollar, tensions between Israel and Iran, and a Morgan Stanley forecast that falling U.S. stockpiles could send crude to $150 by July 4.

U.S. crude surged $9.00 to $136.79 a barrel by 1:23 p.m. EDT, off a record $137.70 hit earlier in the session. London Brent crude rose $8.51 to $136.05.
Oil has surged this year in part due to an influx of cash from investors seeking a hedge against the weaker dollar and inflation. The greenback weakened against other currencies on data showing the U.S. economy lost jobs for the a fifth straight month and the unemployment rate shot up to its highest in more than three years.[more]
