    Default Managed Futures

I am interested in opening a managed futures account with a CTA but have no idea where to start. The funds I've found either need a very high amount of $$$ to open or won't even give a small fry like me the time of day.

Does anybody have any ideas? Perhaps somebody on the MB has a managed futures account or a managed FOREX account and would like to shed some light on how to get my foot in the door. (Or if it's even worth giving my money to!) I'm not necessarily looking for own my personal trading platform, but instead some kind of futures fund or system that I could diversify with instead of a long only mutual fund.

I have found a few managed FOREX accounts with low initial deposits, but I don't know how credible those companies are.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

Anytime you look for managed account, you need to remember that all accounts are managed. You are at the whim of the engine that the companies use. FOREX managed accounts are as good an investment as anything else. They show you their returns and you put your money in an account. If you distrust an investment avenue, then don't invest. I had a managed account and a personal trading account in FOREX until I repeatedly beat the managed account and did my own trading. FOREX is very fluid and you hope the broker is on the right side every day.

    Good Luck.

BTW, I liked the FXCM platform for managed accounts and they seem to have better returns than the others.
THIS IS WHERE I WOULD PUT SOMETHING TO REPRESENT MY THINKING, BUT THEN THEY SHOW UP!

I've had managed futures acounts with three different companies. All were offshoots of one original company. They essentailly lured me in with 3-5% monthly returns, historically for about a year. The strategy was selling S&P 500 options strangles. Worked well the first year in 2001, I think made about 30% net. Their comission was $110!!!, but theystill netted 30% for me. But they began to churn and dumped me on to new brokers in the company.
I'm still with one of those new brokers who lost me about 50% over the following years, but he is with R.J. O'Brien now and I do my own trading, selling primarily S&P put options, with a much lower comission. I agree with Frixx, to do it yourself, and don't go with anyone you don't trust 110%!, even then they won't care about getting you into a margin call, if they get a little sloppy.

These are CTAs and their programs:

Below is who my broker is with (Introducing Broker). But I trade through RJ O'Brien. Can trade everything else as well through RJO.
