Asian stocks rise and pound holds steady on positive trade news

Stock across Asia rose and the pound held onto gains on Friday as investors bid up risk assets on the back of positive noises regarding US-China trade tensions and Brexit. In early trading in the region, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index led gains with a 1.2 per cent rise as technology- and energy-related names rose. Japan’s benchmark Topix rose 0.5 per cent as the yen weakened past ¥108 to the dollar. China’s CSI 300 of Shanghai- and Shenzhen-listed names added 0.2 per cent. South Korea’s Kospi rose 0.9 per cent.
