  1. Choppy action


    Stocks bounced above and below the break-even mark a few times yesterday before some late weakness took most indices into the red for the day. The Dow lost 27-points, while the TSP stock funds were mixed.

  2. Strong open, weak close


    Stocks shot out of the gate in early trading Monday, and ended the day with modest gains, but some late weakness took a little steam out of the rally and the indices closed well of their highs. The Dow did gain 104-points, but had been up nearly 200 earlier. Bonds were down slightly.

  3. Geopolitical pause?

    Some late weakness took the steam out of a what was developing into a nice day and a positive week for the major indices, but I believe the chaos in Kiev and Venezuela had investors wanting to take some profits before the weekend. The Dow ended the day down 30-points, while the TSP stock funds were mixed, and bonds posted a modest gain.

  4. Stocks refuse to die


    Despite being quite overbought, stocks rallied again. Everyone seems to be waiting for the rug to be pulled out from under it, but this market refuses to die. The Dow gained 93-points, while small caps led the way, and the I-fund had to pay some bills.

  5. Negative reversal?


    Stock rallied strongly on Wednesday morning, but peaked and later fell apart in late afternoon trading. The damage wasn't bad, but the negative outside reversals could be setting up some additional short-term weakness. The Dow lost 89-points, but it seemed worse because of the huge reversal after being up nearly 100 earlier.
