  1. TSP Talk: The dip buyers were back after the one-day decline

Stocks were tentative for most of the day on Wednesday, but the bulls took charge in late trading, getting back some of Tuesday's losses. The Dow gained 177-points, while the Nasdaq continue to lead on the upside. Small caps (Russell 2000) had a nice reversal day going from a 1% morning loss, to a 0.81% gain by the close, helping the S-fund to a big day.

  2. TSP Talk: Stocks exhale

Stocks finally took a breather after the recent 5-day pre / post holiday rally, but what looked like a minor dip early on, turned into more of a Turnaround Thursday, and the indices gave back a good chunk of Monday's gains. The Dow lost 397-points and was one of the biggest percentage losers while the Nasdaq held up with a loss less than 1%, but it gave up a near 1% gain from earlier in the day, so it was quite a negative turnaround.

  3. TSP Talk: The S&P 500 up for a 5th straight day

Stocks jumped out of the gate on Monday morning, quickly recovering Thursday's late, pre-holiday selling, and then proceeded to fill the overhead open gap on the S&P 500. That's where things stalled but by then we had solid gains across the board. The Dow gained 460-points and the high flying Nasdaq tech stocks led again on the upside.

Stocks were up on Thursday following a strong jobs report, but the big early gains didn't hold and we saw just modest gains into the close. The Dow gained 92-points, far short of the near 500-points it was up near the opening bell. The question is whether the selling wad due to technical reasons, as you'll see in the charts below, or if it was just nerves heading into the long holiday weekend as coronavirus cases mount.

  5. TSP Talk: Jobs report meets holiday action

Stocks were mixed on the first trading day in July, and the first day of the third quarter. The bulls took over after a flattish open, but there was some selling late in the day to take the indices off their highs. The Dow lost 78-points while the broader indices posted modest gains. Small caps lagged with the Russell 2000 losing about 1% on the day, but our S-fund clung to a small gain, thanks to midcaps having a decent day.
