Stocks were very flat on Tuesday with the Dow, S&P 500, and the EFA all up 0.03%. The Nasdaq was up a modest 0.19%, and the small caps of our S-fund were down 0.19%. Symmetry, I guess. Meanwhile the BND bond fund ETF was up 0.05%. The dollar and bonds were up.

Stocks were mixed again on Monday with the Nasdaq shining, the S&P rallying late, while the Dow (-151-points) and small caps lagged with modest losses. The dollar was down slightly, bonds were up, which means yields were down again.

Stocks were mixed but mostly higher on Friday to end a nice bounce back week for the stock market. The Dow gained 237-points while the S&P 500 gained a third of a percent and the Nasdaq slipped a bit. Small caps and the I-fund led on the upside. Bonds were down, and the dollar was up slightly but looks poised for another move higher.

Stocks rallied on Thursday despite another weaker than expected jobless claims report. The Dow gained 323-points and the gains were fairly broad with the small caps having another big day. Weak data seems to keep the Fed away as far as having a reason to act. The dollar was down, as were yields, in a relatively quiet day that happened to have solid gains for stocks.

Stocks were mixed yesterday with the Dow losing 71-points, the S&P 500 closing at the lows of the day with a minor loss of 0.11%, but we saw gains in the Nasdaq and small caps. Investors continue to try to make sense of what it heard last week from the Fed, and again earlier this week when they tried to walk back the rate hike talk some.
