This and that about the market, the TSP, maybe some politics, and life.

  1. TSP Talk: Rally pauses

Stocks chopped around on Tuesday digesting the recent large gains over the last few days as the some of the charts deal with some overhead resistance. The Dow lost 131-points, well of the morning highs, and off the late morning lows. There is some mending that can be done to those charts to fill open gaps and test moving averages. All in all, it wasn't a good day, but not a terrible day either, and a little back and forth wouldn't be a bad thing as the indices try to build a base off the recent ...

The Russell 2000 (small caps) was flat on the day but the broader Dow Completion Index (our S-fund) was down on the day.

  5. TSP Talk: 50-day EMA holds as resistance

Volatility is back and September's reputation remains intact as the bears took control again after a day and a half of rebounding. The Dow lost 525-points, or 1.9% while the Nasdaq and small caps lagged with losses near 3%. After a positive open, the S&P 500 hit the 50-day EMA and reversed back down, and that may be a troublesome development with yesterday being the 4th straight day that the index closed below the 50-day EMA.
