TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up

Rate this Entry
What are stocks doing? Large caps accelerated growth into Friday and are now into record territory. The weekly chart parralells the monthly chart of the S&P 500. In both there is broken resistance to higher highs after already trading at new high prices.

Stock prices gapped up to start the week reaching new highs from the opening bell Monday. Stocks found more gains throughout the week and growth went into the right side of a porabola Thursday and Friday. The bulls have the bragging rigthts while the bears probably fear the worst is coming. Something has buyers excited, holders are enjoying the ride but may be looking for an exit point.

We are about to enter the summer months, which don't always produce the most exiting action of stocks, and there is etheir supreme optimism or buying has become the only opiton. Assets out of cash are growing more attractive than cash; the dollar has pulled back while stock prices have rallied. It seems like a sign of inflation but bonds were also up for the week which do not typically do well with signs of inflation.

We all know this growth is unsustainable but those on the sidlines have been the fool so far.

Here are the weekly, monthly, and annual TSP fund returns for the week ending November 13:

The SPY's (S&P 500 / C-fund) produced an open gap to start the week but after a the failure of the bears to even test the open gap, the index rallied higher Friday. The resistance line broken the previous week was no worning sign to buyers but rather a confident boost into the next week.

That's all I have this week as I happen to be traveling this weekend. As stocks grow faster so does you need to keep an eye on your allocations.

Good luck and thanks for reading. We will be back here next week with another TSP Wrap Up. You can read our daily market commentary at the Market Comments page. If you need more help deciding what to do with your account, perhaps one of our Premium Services can help.
