  1. TSP Talk - Churning into the CPI Report

Stocks pulled back yesterday as Monday's winners were Turnaround Tuesday's losers, and Monday's laggards held up better on the day, although they were still flat to down. The Dow lost 18-points but big tech, which carried the S&P and Nasdaq higher on Monday, was dragged down by the sell off in Oracle yesterday, and that took the S&P and Nasdaq down with it. Apple declined again, and as goes Apple... Bonds were up slightly as yields slipped lower. The dollar moved higher adding some pressure ...
  2. TSP Talk - Just another positive Monday

Stocks started the new week with a solid gain with big tech doing most of the lifting. It was the 10th consecutive positive Monday. The only negative day to start a week since before the 4th of July was the Tuesday following the Labor Day 3-day weekend. The Dow gained a modest 87-points, or 0.25%, while the S&P 500 gained 0.67% and the Nasdaq led with a gain over 1%. Small caps lagged as they didn't have big tech to help them. Bonds were down as yields moved higher, and the dollar was down ...

Small caps and the I-fund were down on Friday, while bonds and the F-fund were up.

The long weekend ended the bull's momentum. The previous week's best performer turned to this week's worst. The S-fund was down all four days of the shortened week and accumulated a loss of 2.5% for the week. There was little relief from losses among the TSP stock funds. Only the C-fund had a day of gains for the week and it was a modest 0.15% gain on Friday. The S and I-funds recorded a loss everyday of the four day week.

  5. TSP Talk - Losses mounting as Apple declines again

Stocks were mostly lower yesterday, although the Dow posted a moderate gain despite 16 of the index's 30 stocks being down on the day. Seven of the eight heaviest weighted companies in the Dow were up, which helped give it the gain on the day. Otherwise, the broader indices were lower including the tech sector, small caps, the I-fund, the Transports, and Apple, explaining why the market breadth was about 2 to 1 in favor of decliners over advancers on both the NYSE and the Nasdaq.
