  1. Failed Rally Attempt

    Given last week's sell-off I can't say that I'm surprised that the market "tried" to stage a comeback today. But by the close the major averages ended the day mixed.

    Bonds took another shellacking however, and that is becoming a troubling sign. Exactly what that means I can only speculate, but I suspect inflation may be the fear. And that's not a friend to bonds or stocks. It's entirely too early to say though, and we won't know the truth of it until it's somewhat in our rearview ...

    Not much to report this week, my expectations remain the same until the trend proves otherwise. Expounding on last week's chart (YTD Daily) here are some bearish observations you may find interesting. The PVI (Positive Volume Index) is a measurement of the movement in positive volume, I tend to call it the dumb money rushing in. When compared to the May peak, we can see the PVI has been declining.   4. Weekly Sentiment Update

    We're on another sell this week based on our weekly sentiment survey. It was a great call last week and now the Seven Sentinels have issued a sell based on last Friday's close. It is OPEX week so I would not be surprised with some volatile action.

  5. TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up - 11/13/10

    Buy the pullback or prepare for a correction?

    Stocks lost ground last week giving the TSP stock funds a little haircut after the big gains during the first week in November. For the week, the C-fund lost 2.10%, the S-fund fell 2.00%, and the I-fund gave up 2.30%. Bonds (F-fund) were also down losing 0.79%, and the G-fund picked up 0.04%.
