  1. TSP Talk - An expiration day explosion!

Friday was an options expiration day and that big rally was not what we'd normally expect on an expiration day, but the bulls made a statement by pushing the S&P 500 to new all-time highs with that 1.23% gain, but can we trust it? Small caps started out slowly on Friday but came roaring back from an early loss to also gain over 1%. The I-fund was held back as the overseas markets were closed by the time the big gains came in the US market. Bonds managed a small gain as yields reversed down ...
  2. TSP Talk - Stocks hold at support for now

It's been a short but busy week for the stock market. Stocks opened higher yesterday, chopped around for a while, then closed strong and near the highs of the day. They did that despite some stronger than expected employment data which sent yields and the dollar higher - something that has been holding the stock market back recently. The Dow gained 202-points and the Nasdaq led with a 1.35% gain thanks to big tech. Small caps and the I-fund also had a good day while bonds were down slightly ...

Bonds were down with yields being up and how high they ...
  4. TSP Talk - Yields and the dollar rally sending stocks and bonds lower

Stocks opened the new holiday shortened week with the tail wagging the dog to some degree as hawkish comments from European Banks sent yields and the dollar higher yesterday, putting pricing pressure on just about everything here in the US including stocks, bonds, and commodities. The Dow lost 232-points while the S&P and Nasdaq saw more modest losses and again the small caps lagged those large cap indices. Bonds and the I-fund took direct hits because of the move up in yields and the dollar. ...
  5. TSP Talk - Choppy month heads into earnings season

Stocks were mixed on Friday and, after a week of crucial inflation data, the indices and the TSP stock and bond funds were all up for the week. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq were flat on Friday while the Dow and small caps lagged, and the I-fund led with a half percent gain. Bonds did well as yields fell further on the slightly cooler PPI report (Producer Prices.)
