  1. The Big Picture: Do you think the bottom is in?

Ok, it's been a bloody week for stocks, and at this moment I do believe we are on the cusp of flipping over to a correction. As you hopefully know, I've been talking about the 18 April low and its importance, so having seen price reach these levels was no surprise for me. However, what does have me somewhat alarmed is that my timeframe expectations have been exceeded because price has gotten to these levels faster than I thought they should have. Now I'm not prepared to tell everyone to hit

  2. The Bond Spectrum: It's that good

Looking at the Bond Spectrum, we can see we are approaching extreme overbought conditions, but this isn't me advising you to sell. In a bull market you fade the rallies not sell them. When I go back in history and look for similar setups, I can see these were nothing more than starting points for higher prices. If this were a bear market I'd advice you to sell at these levels, but it's not so I'm keeping my advice from the last Spectrum report.

TSP stock funds head south last week

A series of poor economic data gave the stock market a one-two punch last week, putting an end to what looked like a promising rally. But Tuesday’s breakout above the new descending trading channel turned out to be a fake-out.

For the TSP, the C-fund was down 2.30% for the week. The S-fund lost 2.91%, and the I-fund was down just 0.11% as the weaker dollar helped it stay buoyant. Bonds (F-fund) gained 0.29%, and the G-fund was up ...

  5. Will Sentiment Matter?

As I've been expecting for a number of trading days now, the market has hit fresh lows as the S&P 500 dropped another 0.97% to close at 1300.16. We have to go back to March 23rd for a lower close on the S&P, a day where it closed at 1297.54. Today's close puts the S&P right at my target area for a possible low, but I'm not so sure we have actually put in a low yet.

Just a few days ago it seemed like the market was cheering bad news as I posted in a recent blog. Now the market seems ...
