  2. TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up

    Space

The August CPI report knocked the wind out of the bulls rally early this week and sparked a sell-off that would erase the gains from previous week by Friday. We talked last week about the importance of this CPI report and how it would be a market mover. Well it certainly was as the market had its worst day of the year on Tuesday after its release. Bonds were down and yields closed ...

On a positive note the indices went from the lows of the days to close with moderate gains in the final 45 minutes, so buyers were stepping up late. Bonds ...
  5. TSP Talk: A CPI disaster

Now that was a Turnaround Tuesday! Stocks sold off after a stronger inflationary CPI Report than expected. The Dow lost 1276-points which was the largest loss in over two years. Volume was higher than normal, but nothing extreme that would indicate a capitulation, and that probably means we need to see more pain before this bear market runs its course. Small caps outperformed slightly as the S-fund did not quite hit the -4% mark, while the S&P lost 4.3%. Bonds were down as yields and the ...
