  1. The bears are usually on vacation this week

    I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend. I assume many of you are still on vacation but the market is open again so it's back to work.

    The last day of trading before Christmas is historically one of the most consistently positive days of the year and it did not disappoint this year. Stocks rallied early, held onto those gains, and gained strength into the close, and the Dow ended the day at the high picking up 124-points.

    As I suspected, we've embraced the Santa Clause rally in a big way. Our sentiment survey is certainly in-line with the charts this week.

    Santa Claus Rally Shows Up Right on Queue

    Stocks spent the week in a steady, low volume, holiday rally.



    For the TSP, the C-fund gained 3.80% on the week, the S-fund was up 3.48%, the I-fund added 2.27%, while the F-fund (bonds) lost 0.62%, and the G-fund was up 0.03%.

  5. Melting Up

    Officially, the period for a Santa Clause rally began today and lasts through the first two trading days of January. And right now we are ahead of schedule, given the rally started three days early.
