  3. Rate cut today, impeachment vote Thurs, jobs report Friday

    Stocks rallied early on Tuesday, peaked within the first couple of hours of trading, and faded lower closing near the flat line although Apple and Google both lost about 2% dragging the Nasdaq down with them. The Dow lost 19-points while the broader non-tech part of the market was mostly flat.

    Correction! I have been saying that the FOMC meeting and interest rate decision is on Thursday this week. It is actually on Wednesday!

    Stocks opened higher on Monday and we finally saw a new high in the S&P 500.     Stocks opened lower on Friday as the losses in Amazon impacted the broader market - initially. But buyers stepped up right away taking not only the indices higher, but also Amazon turned a sharp decline into a modest 1.1% loss by the close. The Dow ended the day up 153-points, or +0.57%. The Transports led again, while the Nasdaq and the small caps also outperformed the S&P 500.
