Default Ask Tom: What's up with TSP Evolution?

Hey Tom, I have now seen an ad on this website twice for TSP Evolution and some sort of free TSP challenge. I didn't click on the ad, and it doesn't pop up on a regular basis, but was wondering if you know the people behind the ad or what gives? Seems like somebody trying to cut in on your slice of the TSP pie.

(For me, there's only one TSP site and that's TSPTalk -- shameless sucking up over now).

No, I don't know who / what that is. Google delivers the ads and they are programmed to read keywords on the site and cookies on you PC to deliver ads they deem relative.

I have the ability to block specific websites from showing, and I've done a few, but we also have Revenue Sharing here so some of the ads are actually ads of our members, and I don't have any control of them.

Of course I don't want to promote competitors, so the dilemma for us, as the site with the most TSP traffic is, do I take the money they are spending on advertising (I make a few cents when people click on the ads so they'd be sending me money), or do I block the ads? I usually block the ads, so I will look for this one.

    Thanks!

    P.S. Shameless sucking up noted.
    Tom

Evolution is yet another TSP premium service that failed on another site. There is a pattern developing here that once someone has one good year, they start charging for their expertise. Once they realize that consistently making money with TSP isn't so easy and they start losing their subscriber base, they start their own websites in order to make money with Google Adsense. Evolution is now a site that charges a fee for what basically is just an autotracker that shows you what your return would be utilizing various allocations across the TSP funds. They just call it a "simulator".

Their motto is "Gaming For Your Financial Future". The only problem is, most TSP investors don't have the time to learn the "game". Just look at the tracker here on TSPtalk. A lot of the top "players" this year didn't do well last year and a lot of the top ones last year aren't doing too well this year.

TSP Evolution is a fast and easy way to start trading various Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) funds risk free. This is the perfect way for individuals who are new to investing in the Thrift Savings Plan to learn what types of TSP funds give you the best return without having to buy and sell actual stock. Through this simulator using virtual money, users will learn the ins and outs of the TSP and investing in general with zero risk. Gain knowledge from other members so you can learn fast and easy!

What about the guys that didn't do really well last year and are doing equally horrible this year (looking in the mirror, now)?

Can I sell a premium service to do the exact opposite of what I am doing? Just thinking of my future here.

Anyways, thanks for the quick replies guys.

    Appreciate it.

Sorry, Minnow, I have you beat. There won't be much of a market for your contrarian service when they can have the Cactus Contrarian indicator for free.

Just looked at your Autotracker rank... don't be trying to horn in on my ideas!!!

Maybe we should start a thread where we can discuss our bright ideas for Interfund Transfers. Or we could just have a bar thread where we can go after IFT cutoff time and cry about how dumb our moves were.
