Detroit Worst Case Budget Scenario: Close 18 Out of 23 Branches, Lose 191 Staffers
Detroit Public Library's (http://www.detroit.lib.mi.us/) (DPL) budget troubles are far from over. Just a few weeks after DPL laid off 80 staffers (http://www.libraryjournal.com/lj/home/889124-264/detroit_pl_working_on_aggressive.html.csp) on March 31 because of diminished property tax revenues, the 23-branch system must make further substantial cuts. Several draconian options are under consideration--the closure of 12, 15, or 18 branches plus more layoffs

This could be because of one of a few things....People in Michigan can't read anymore, or the E-Books are the way of the future..
