And yet another one that wants to switch to a pay-for-performance system?

Can we afford ANOTHER fiasco?

Freshman Rep. Dennis Ross, R-Fla., plans nothing less than the most drastic overhaul of the federal civil service since the post-World War II era. The new chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee on the federal workforce wants to scrap the General Schedule and replace it with a pay-for-performance system that reflects market rates.

And the little letter after the gentleman's name is an....... (fill in the blank).

of COURSE he's going to try to destroy federal workers.

Look, you can't put people with that letter (R) after their name into office, and then expect them to do anything other than attack attack attack federal workers.

It's like expecting to put a Wile E. Coyote and the road runner together for dinner.

AND if you find a little (D) after their name, you can expect them to want to take away your money (taxes) and distribute it to their friends (and all those people who don't want to make it on their own)...

The other party, the Libbies don't have the ----- to suggest anything that will cause them to lose votes, things have to be done to pull this country out of this slump before it's too late and the sweethearts don't want to hurt anybodies feelings. Propaganda!

Obama froze my pay for 2 years...

But Paul Ryan (R) wants to freeze it for FIVE years, eliminate FERS retirement contributions by the employer, and make you work until age 70 before allowing you to retire.

You just can't win these days.

That's really the point, isn't it. Neither party seems to appreciate or value our contributions, nor do they want to honor the agreements they have made with the Federal work force. While Ryan wants to... Obama did. Obama chose to, didn't have to...

I personally would rather see pay reform than see retirement reform. We do have a system that needs to be fixed. That makes sense. Pay for performance may not be the answer, but the GS system is outdated. The problem is that pay reform would be a lot harder to accomplish than just an across the board cut.

I think the system is top heavy!

Sounds hard to implement.

Also, I think most people will follow the natural inclination of favoring whichever reforms hurt them the least. I would not be surprised to see some modest reforms come into play. (Top 5; double required pay-in to FERS or even change FERS for new employees as of 201x, etc.)
