View Full Version : AutoTracker Prizes

With the large increase in the number of participants on the AutoTracker (despite a large chunk of idle accounts that were deleted from the 2010 AT) I want to beef up the monthly prize pool quality a little.

I love the travel mugs and they have been popular, but I am open to reasonable suggestions for other prizes. Besides the mugs, hats, shirts... what else? Any suggestions? (be serious) :notrust: ;)

There are some mugs that are pretty expensive that we could move up to. Or we could do hoodies, nicer shirts, more Revshark books, etc...

I would prefer that it be something to bring to, or wear to work, to help promote TSP Talk.

Got anything? Thanks!

I could go for a wireless remote. Can have them ready by the end of next month? ;)

Might I suggest TSPtalk scented candles? My girlfriend loves candles.......:)

Also, calenders (love those pocket size calenders), keychain lights (perhaps the ones with a built in whistle, car safety kits (come keep your assets safe with TSPtalk), those hand crank flashlights, first aid kits, pedometers (a lot of government people walk during lunch), car escape tools, memory sticks for computer, grocery totes, book totes, can and bottle huggers, sleeping bags, umbrellas, hand sanitizer, portable chair, golf umbrella or a new pink corvette.............:p

Trophies? :)

Actually that would be pretty cool, then I could proudly display it at work next to my TSP coffee cup! Maybe I would take it places too and take pictures of it in touristy locations. Then I could start a thread dedicated to pictures of my trophy, maybe my daughter would dress it up in nice clothes so I could take it out to dinner...:D

I tell you what, Tom.....I think the biggest prize is the 'bragging rights'! :D
But other than that, I will go along with the survey so far....nice polo shirt, or light jacket with the TSPTalk logo!
Now all I have to do is get to the top 3 (I think I will concentrate on making it to the top 100 first!!).

i would also agree those getting prizes wouldnt need premium services.

i am a big fan of travel mugs but a nice light jacket or mouse/pad or even a mp3 player would be great as well.

.....

i havent posted in a while but i have been here reading and watching :)

i have a little break now so ill be around more hopefully. I hope everyone had a great holiday season!

Coffee Cup or Tie Clip. The prime prize motive is to promote TSP Talk in the workplace... The Mouse won't make it into a gvmt office, maybe a mousepad (cheapo) would. The winners don't seemingly much need the premium services and, leftist that I am, I feel any cash disbursements should go to poor rats that finish last....they would have to prove ACTUAL losing TSP investment.

I am such a dunce, always a day late and dollar short, I don't expect to share in the rewards anytime soon.

I actually bought a bunch of TSP Talk mouse pads that I got for a good deal, but they smell like burnt tires and I am not sure they can be used. :worried:

I even put the one I was using back in the box and threw the boxes in the garage.

Lesson learned: You get what you pay for.

A year? I was thinking a free month. ;) A mug is only about $15. A year's service is worth up to $200. Maybe the final full year winner can be given a full year's PS subsciption.

With the large increase in the number of participants on the AutoTracker (despite a large chunk of idle accounts that were deleted from the 2010 AT) I want to beef up the monthly prize pool quality a little.

I,d go with these suggestions; windbreaker type jackets, laptop carriers, student bookbags, large cariers of notes ( sort of like what a kid uses to deliver newspapers?)

Tom,

Three things:

Not everybody who 'wins' a month or even a year has a system. Although I have yet to win anything, I think many would appreciate an introduction to various systems that could help them continue their winning ways. So a month of access to premium subscriptions would be a good prize.

And, I like the idea of an icon by the bubbas who make the grade. Maybe a 'counter' on the number of times an individual 'wins' the monthly. Kinda bragging rights. To make things more complicated, maybe a negative counter when those self-same bubbas bang on the bottom. Yuk, yuk... The problem with this is that TSPTalk really has no 'risk' concept. Winners may be taking more risk than others should be taking.

Finally, something safe for work that triggers interest in TSPTalk and TSP itself. Mouse pads, jacket, sweatshirt. Some of us cannot use things like USB drives and can't change our Central Planned computers (although we can change our background - even on Non-Mission Capable Internet [NMCI] computers). That is why I like the coffee mugs. Maybe an image (kinda trophy like) with the month or year won - relatively easy, but it would be like a on-going plaque.

Regardless, this site is a community. We aren't fighting for spots. Most of us are seeking information and companionship. If all I wanted was to be the 'King of the Trading Hill' I wouldn't be working in the computer field as a government employee - eh...

Thanks for the continued feedback. It looks like a free month of a premium service is an obvious prize to add.

We used to do the title changes, but to be honest, I had a hard time remembering to update them and take down the old ones. I gave up.

I did find some nice hot or cold travel mugs for those who prefer cold drinks...

We need to continue to bring more folks to this site.

1. Calender with TSP LOGO to display at the office.

2. Something to hang on the door at the office displaying Montly winner.

3. Hoodie is an obvious winner.

4. Key chain.

Hoodie seems to be a good "useable" choice for this time of year... maybe seasonal type gift...

Actually, I think any one of these things would be good. But it occurs to me that it be a good idea to have a specialized logo - TSP TALK TOP TRADER or some such. (Instead of a trophy, I'd do a plaque.) That way, its good advertising for TSP TALK, its good recognition for the winner and its something that will draw attention and hopefully make people start asking questions.

You might also have a "tier" of winners .. say you want to award the top 5% of those in the AutoTracker. ( That might mean a lot depending upon how many people are in the tracker ). Of those top 5%, the top 20% get "Tier 1" gifts, those in the top 20-40% get "Tier 2" gifts, etc.

Just received my two 16oz ringed travel mugs, thanks Tom! I have to admit I like the 16oz sporty traveler mugs a bit better. Also, one of the mugs came broken. The bottom of the inside part of the mug has a screw in it that connects to the bottom plastic piece for some reason. Anyway, the plastic molding around this screw was in several different pieces. Just letting you know because the way it was packaged, it looks like a supplier issue, in case anyone else has this problem.

Bummer! Those darn postal workers. :D

I just took a look at one of my cups to see what you were talking about, and while it was not broken, it easily came apart - the whole cup. As if the seems were not glued well. Of course my wife probably had it sitting in her car for a week baking in the sun, but still. I wouldn't put them in the dishwasher either.

Another good reason to move to a more quality travel cup.

I just hope you're making some money on this site, Tom. This is a fun site (esp when I'm doing well) and it looks like a lot of work to me so I hope it continues to be worth it to you.

I like the idea of a ball cap. Maybe a pennant-like thing like sports teams have so winners can hang it at work and show off ;-) I also like the idea of logos/icons to identify winners. That way it would be easier for me to pick out those people and study how and when they make their IFTs.

Wind breakers and fleece pullovers are cool, as are pens, mugs/cups, t-shirts, mouse pads, etc. You may even consider simple toys that those of us with kids might choose to give to our little ones to throw around the house.
