She gets the part - that when it comes to 'politics' it's pretty much always overkill and protraying 'eminent and immediate danger'

Remember the Weapons of Mass Destruction .... while throughout the same years the Greatest Weapon of Mass Destruction (Financial) brought the world to it's knees and now millions and millions are still suffering as a result.

The article is essentially part of the Circus and keeps everything going as usual. Had it been 'Republician' (which I am) it would have been the same story but different characters.

The focus needs to be on the Pharmaceutical Companies and the Insurance Industry - taking a good hard look at our present Heatlh Care System and why it operates mostly for their interests and secondly and barely for the interests of those with insurance.

This guy doesn't get it...

Peggy Noonan has really, really bad timing (http://mediamatters.org/blog/200908070004)
"Arriving online the morning after right-wing teabaggers sparked arrests, fights and mayhem at town hall meetings across the country, Noonan warns it's Democrats who are unleashing an "ugly" tone to the health care debate. It's Democrats who are being "unhelpfully divisive and provocative."

White House to Democrats: 'Punch back twice as hard'

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0809/25891.html

Top White House aides gave Senate Democrats a recess battle plan on Thursday, arming the lawmakers with tips for avoiding disastrous town hall meetings while showing them polling on popular aspects of the reform effort.

Senior White House adviser David Axelrod and deputy chief of staff Jim Messina told senators to focus on the insured and how they would benefit from “consumer protections" in the overhaul, such as ending the practice of denying insurance based on preexisting conditions and ensuring the continuity of coverage between jobs.

They showed video clips of the confrontational town halls that have dominated the media coverage, and told senators to do more prep work than usual for their public meetings by making sure their own supporters turn out, senators and aides said.

And they screened TV ads and reviewed the various campaigns by critics of the Democratic plan.

“If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard,” Messina said, according to an official who attended the meeting.

Hit back twice as hard? I guess if the Dems don't like what they hear, they've been given the go ahead and hit back 2x as hard, as wasn't him who said we need to be tolerant. Lets don't escalate this like the Gate's fiasco.

Very presidential, it's obvious that if you don't agree with the emperor, he's going to sic his bully boys, (ACORN) on us, or at least some of ys.
We're going to have to stand up for our Freedom of speech or does it now belong only to his bully boys and followers.

Peggy Noonan.

Former speech writer for both Ronald Regan and George Bush (the elder).

Nice lady, good with words. But certainly a conservative by nature, and therefore not representative of the American center. Leans pretty far right.

Peggy Noonan.... not representative of the American center.
I know that I have become very polarized in the last 5 to 10 years, and it is somewhat sad. I look at everything now, watching for some political spin. I was probably much happier when I was clueless.

My question is, who would you say is a good example of an "American center"? It would have to be someone basically ignorant of politics because unless you've been living in a cave for the last 10 years, you have probably been steared one way of the other on most issues. Hollywood - Left. Talk Radio - Right. Media - Left. Judging by poll results on TSP Talk... investors and traders - Right.

So, who would you say is an "American center"? I can't think of anyone off hand.

The late Tim Russert came pretty close. He was a real pro and still thought like and about the common man. I didn't agree with everything he said, but he was very good at explaining his POV and could back it up with real numbers, very little to minimal spinning, that deserved respect, at least from my POV.

Yeah, it is very difficult to hear anything these days without some spin.

I did find this, however, so it seems he did lean at least a little one way...

Prior to becoming host of Meet the Press, Russert worked as a special counsel, and later as chief of staff, to U.S. Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a Democrat from New York. In 1983, he became the counsel to New York Governor Mario Cuomo, also a Democrat.

In case someone didn't see it, the question is...
Who would you say is an example of an "American center"?

True Tom,

But Moynihan was one of the last dying breed of Dems that had some common sense, not like the whack jobs now. Shot now if your not a whack job Dem, they'll just run ya otta the party, witness Lieberman, of course being Jewish is a strike against him as far as the left is concerned. As spoken they all have beliefs one side or the other, so I'm probably wrong about anyone being unbiased, but Russert did a better job of keeping his personal feelings out of most interviews than anyone. I wouldn't give a warm bucket of spit for what we have now, newsman or politician.

Of course I remember Huntley and Brinkley also. :)

I think the media has done an outstanding job of polarizing the masses over the years. It's no wonder gun sales are so brisk and ammo is backordered.

Regardless of of how one portrays Peggy, she is certainly correct in that tempers are elevated and going higher. That's not what a prudent administration should be fostering, and I don't care what side of the political fence they are on.

I'm a conservative who's probably a little right of center, but I think I know how to think for myself and make logical conclusions. The liberal policies we're seeing fly in the face of historical fact. You can't keep making the same mistake while expecting different results (such as health care).

The biggest problem we have with our Government right now is arrogance. Peggy pretty much portrayed that in her opinion piece.

FIRE ALL OF THE SOBs!!!!

And we can start with these, for those of us that aren't socialists.

During the 2008 Presidential campaign bHo told audiences, 'Judge me by the people with whom I surround myself.' So NOW who do you think HE is?

Now onto “advisors” that didn’t have to be vetted by our Congress.

John Holdren, science czar, advocates for population control using the most extreme measures, such as mandating the number of children Americans can have. Holdren has also suggested that infants and chronically ill elderly do not fit his definition of 'human,' and therefore can be expendable.

Cass Sunstein, regulatory czar,, believes that animals should have the right to legal representation. If you try to get rid of rats in your home, a 'concerned citizen' could bring a lawsuit, with the rat as the plaintiff, to sue you for endangering a species. He also believes that if bloggers post something that turns out to be false, they should be prosecuted and also the removal of peoples organs without their consent. (Talk about the opportunity for hanky panky, but we know this administration is so altruistic .)

Ezekiel Emanuel, healthcare czar, believes in using cost-benefit and comparative-benefit analysis to allocate healthcare resources. This means the fewer years you have left to live, the less cost-effective it is to treat you. Thus, most of those resources should be diverted from the elderly to younger people. This is the 'rationing' portion of ObamaCare that many of us have warned about. Even without the public option, the provision for rationing is inherent in the provisions of the bill, thanks to advisers such as Emanuel.

Mark Lloyd, FCC 'diversity czar,' supports Communist Hugo Chavez in Venezuela and believes that what Chavez did to squelch free speech in the media and seize the means of communication is a good model for the United States. (Wow there goes our Freedom of Speech….ain’t that a Constitutional Amendment? Well I guess for those that still believe in all the Constituion)

Given these czars and special advisers who have offices in the White House with easy access to the President, how, then, should we judge the Prez's ideas and plans for the country, just as he asked us to do? What can Americans reasonably expect over the next few years

Oh yeah lets not forget the Rev and Saul Alinsky. Why is it that a lot of his voters thought they would get something else when everything in bHo’s past said he was a devout leftist. Except for those decades in Wright's church when he covered his ears, of course. ;)

As for Alinsky, he is, dead (or he’d be a Czar also) community organizer and bHo mentor. His Rule #12 for Radicals - "Cut off the support network, isolate the target from sympathy; go after people, not institutions, because people hurt faster than institutions. (We’ve seen this in action. His rules are really eye openers and they are being spoon fed from the grave thru bHo.)

And this Alinsky nugget, “Change” was Alinsky’s favorite word, used on page after page. “I will argue,” he wrote, “that man’s hopes lie in the acceptance of the great law of change.” Dang that sounds familiar….Hope and Change Change and Hope. Hook line and sinker.

I guess being in Cincy, over the weekend, with all those "angry" Americans that just want our voices heard, kinda brought out the patriotism in me. :D A great time was had by all, just on big party. I overheard a couple of police officers, saying that they were worried that Union thugs would show up, but they were glad they didn't. Hmmm
