Interesting article - thanks for posting. I had the foresight to ditch my gas guzzler a couple of years ago when gas went back down after it had spiked so high, but not everyone is so lucky. This is practical advice for anyone finding themself in this predicament - gaz guzzler, keep it or sell it?

You often start some interesting threads, Miss Piggy!

I DITCHED mine!

Heck, I had a gas guzzling Dodge truck I used for towing my boat, it was bad at launching a boat, cause it sucked water up the gas tank, if you wern't real careful. We also had a Ford SUV 6 cyl. 2/4 wheel drive, which we used. It was better at towing the boat with it's shorter wheel base, but it was a bit rough riding on the highway.

Taking a trip was almost out of the question. Relatives live a far piece away so trips were a costly item.

We traded in the Dodge for a Toyota Camry Hybrid with Synergy drive. Best buy I ever made! Wife loves it! She is no longer reluctant to make her local quilt meetings. It gets 33/34 and rides like a dream. It was made in Georgetown KY, so US folks got paid to make it (I felt better). GM and Ford didn't have anything to match it in economy and comfort.

I re-rigged our older SUV for towing the boat. Round trip to the USACE boat ramp is about a 1 1/2 miles.......:D
