Welcome! I've only been aboard a couple of months myself, but I hope you like it here as much as I do. Lots of very smart people with humor and valuable insights on investing and on life. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone. I don't know much about the market, but am willing to learn; especially since my money is involved. Appreciate the warm welcomes!

I predict we may have another newbie yet tonight-

I ran into someone in Lenscrafters tonight, and told them all about TSPTALK while waiting for my glasses.

You here yet? ???

So, I tell you, reading the TSPTalk site is great! I understand more about allocations, and the funds. Still working on the lingo.

This is where I am today:

Allocations:

G Fund: 40%
F Fund: 0%
C Fund: 30%
S Fund: 15%
I Fund: 15%

Invested:

G Fund: 90%
F Fund: 0%
C Fund: 10%
S Fund: 0%
I Fund: 0%

Not really sure what to do after this. I try to keep up, but not really sure what to look for. I was orginally in the L fund, but wanted more control!

I understand we now only get two IFTs to other than the G fund every month. I understand that we can have multiple IFTs if we're dumping $$$ from other Funds into the G Fund.

Thoughts? Oh, and please tell me if this is inappropriate to ask!

Many Thanks!

"Still working on the lingo"
You'll find many sites that offer Definitions of Investment Terminology, or ask. When I started, DCB was new to me.
(Dead Cat Bounce)

Contribution
Allocations: FUTURE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM YOUR PAYCHECK
G Fund: 40%
F Fund: 0%
C Fund: 30%
S Fund: 15%
I Fund: 15%

Invested: CURRENT MONEY IN EACH FUND
G Fund: 90%
F Fund: 0%
C Fund: 10%
S Fund: 0%
I Fund: 0%

"I was orginally in the L fund, but wanted more control"
IT WOULD BE WISE TO HAVE THE BASICS UNDER YOUR BELT BEFORE
YOU TAKE TOTAL CONTROL OVER YOUR TSP.

"I understand we now only get two IFTs to ALL FUNDS than BACK the G fund THEREAFTER every month"
CORRECTIONS ADDED

THE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE LEVEL SHARED BY THE MEMBERSHIP
WILL TAKE TIME AND PATIENCE TO TRUELY UNDERSTAND. ITS ACTUALLY
GOOD PRACTICE AS YOUR INVESTMENT DECISIONS WILL REQUIRE THE
SAME. TAKE YOUR TIME, ASK AS NEEDED AND HAVE A LITTLE FUN ALONG
THE WAY. YOU'LL FIND IT REWARDING. (sorry about caps,,,wasn't yelling)
