Did anyone notice that our payment into TSP didn't happen until Tuesday 6/3? It has always occurred on the Saturday before payday or in this case 5/31. Does anyone know why this happened? Is this a permanent change to coincide with payday? For this month, it worked to my advantage since the C, S and I all were down from Friday's close.

It also affected the day my TSP loan payment was made. So I incurred 4 more days of interest on my principal.

I was just curious if anyone else noticed this. One of my coworkers came to me and asked me what I knew about it since I am the one in the office who follows this stuff pretty closely. I hadn't heard anything about changes.

I noticed it 4 years ago and did a FOIA on it. It's different for every agency and can vary from payday to payday. By law your agency has 30 days to make your contribution. Mine runs at least 10 days behind my payroll deposit, which doesn't make sense because everything is electronic, but they decline to explain when questioned about it. I want to know what they are doing with that 10 days of interest that belongs to ME!!!

When there's a holiday there is more of a delay.

Well it's with the Air Force! So I figure it would be any available position you can find! I just switched to work for the Navy, and they do it the same way as well, your highness!

Ed,

My TSP payment, DOD Corps of Inganeers, has always been on the Tuesday before payday, when I would happen to check. Headed to Nags Head tomorrow, any TSP'ers be there?

Is that a week before Payday? If so, then it's probably the contribution from the previous payday....a week lag time where the agency earns and keeps 1 week interest on your money.

It appears several agencies were late with TSP this past pay period, and it also appears that is had to do with the payroll cutoff date, and Memorial day being the Monday before. Because of the holiday, Dept of Interior (who handles several agency payrolls) moved the manager approval date of payroll to one day later to accomodate Memorial day, and therefore knocked the TSP deposite date off cycle.

Should return to normal next pay period.
