BAD NEWS-

FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt headed to the North Pole last week to check out Santa for his Biennial Flight Review.

(see story: https://employees.faa.gov/news/focusfaa/story/index.cfm?newsId=60063 )

Santa was expecting the Administrator, so he had the elves wash the sled and bathe all the reindeer. Santa got his logbook out and made sure all his paperwork was in order. Had over 200,000 flight miles since his last inspection, you know.

The elves all fueled (HAY) and hitched up his 8 tiny reindeer to the Red Sled in advance. The FAA administrator came up, and carefully watched as Santa walked slowly around the sled.

Following behind Santa, the FAA man double checked the reindeer’s harnesses, the sled landing gear, and of course, Rudolf's nose lighting candlepower.

He painstakingly reviewed Santa's weight and balance calculations for the sled's enormous payload, as several large sacks were loaded aboard, and properly lashed down to prevent the cargo from shifting.

Finally, they were ready for the checkride.

Once Santa finished his preflight inspection, the pair got into the Sleigh, Santa loaded his last toy bag into the back, and our FAA Administrator tossed his knapsack right beside.

Santa slowly climbed into the left seat, and FAA Administrator Randy into the right.

They both buckled their seatbelts, adjusted their shoulder harnesses, and Santa checked and set his compass.

As he slowly taxied the sleigh towards the takeoff zone, Santa told Rudolf to taxi into position and hold. Just then, the FAA Administrator reached back into his knapsack on the back seat, and pulled out a double-barrel shotgun.

"What's that for?" asked Santa blinked, and stuttered incredulously.

The FAA examiner winked and said, "Well I'm not supposed to tell you this, but ... you're gonna lose an engine on takeoff.”
