TOKYO, April 28 (AP) - (Kyodo)—Fine weather is expected to prevail in most parts of Japan (http://search.breitbart.com/q?s=japan&sid=breitbart.com) during the Golden Week holiday period from Tuesday through May 6, with temperatures expected to rise in some parts in early May, the Japan Meteorological Agency said Monday

There should be no FV for today right now.

plus mystery money or rounding up

Based on my tracking and your FV formulas, I'm begining to believe that
the "mystery money" is a determination by Barclays to add or subtract
TSP cents in order to closely reflect the MSCI EAFE INDEX YTD %, while
adding estimated TSP costs into the formula. Just a guess at this point.

It is all relative. Disney is a tourist trap, right? So, the tourist are loving our gas prices because some of them are paying upward of $5-7/gal. in their own country. So they don't mind spending <$4 /gal. Oh yeah, and Disney also has other businesses to keep it healthy.:D

A nice steal day for all who moved in to the I yesterday. This situation is a perfect example of how the new IFT rule will hinder my style. I would have moved out this morning but I didn't want to "waste" an IFT. It looks like it might be ok though for 1 more day. I can feel the stranglehold this is going to put on me now.

well, as someone pointed out to me on another thread, you could use those same L2040 percentages and set yourself up in the 5 funds instead of going L 2040. That's still just 1 IFT. Then you could adjust them if needed for your 2nd IFT. Then DCA into G or go 100% G as needed. That way you have TOTAL control of your money which you DON'T have in an L fund.

You’re so right! I have 25% of my ‘real’ money in I Fund and have had since the first part of February, so I’ve been able to catch most of the ride up.

I maintain a 50/50 mix between my stocks and bonds. My stocks are currently 11% C, 10% S, and 25% I. My spreadsheets tell me I should have more in S but I keep thinking that diesel prices and credit line crunches are going to have a negative impact. And I keep being wrong. Should trust my numbers, huh.

Henry To makes a very good case for small caps over on safehaven. "Small caps have had a tremendous run since 1998 - with a cumulative return of 204.1% vs. 77.1% for small cap growth, 45.4% for large cap value, and 27.3% for large cap growth." I actually think they have hit the wall and that large cap will be the outperformance for the next several years - though today was a small cap resilience day.

I believe the financial weighting in the S&P 500 approaches 23%. I suggest buying in early. The Bank of England said last week that the realized losses suffered by banks on illiquid assets such as mortgage backed secirities are unlikely to be as large as current market prices indicate. Such a mark to market approach to valuing illiquid securities could significantly exaggerate the scale of losses that financial institutions might incur. Now I know this will result in the return of the 350Z man to refute this case.

Today should be another short term high. This is the highest since January.

I would stay on the I-train. A percentage in the I-fund is another safer idea.

The VIX index would indicate a move to the upside.

The I-fund is still below the 200 day moving average.

Will the I-fund break to the upside above the 200 day moving average?

I thought long and hard on doing the same. I am still in the red for the year but close to breaking even. I thought about gabbing the little pop and just keep adding to the hit and run action.

Since about Feb I have been buying in at the beginning of the month when the opp looked good. Then pop smoke when the weather turned cloudy. The problem is that I can only get 2 transfers a month that way. I am trying to change that. I want to be in a fund going into a new month. Then I can pull out and still use my second transaction to get back in. I'll still have my G fund transfer as a safety valve.

You have unlimited transfers to G fund after the first two "free" unrestricted moves to any fund including G. See Squalebear and GGal threads for more detail. SB and NASA have both made 4 IFT's this month already.:)

There is still global upside here...I think that we will see 26.00 in the I fund. :)

However, the next bubble is in commodities and that bursting will haunt all markets from September 2008 through January 2009, IMHO....:(

Hi ChemEng,

I run it at 11:30 EST and again shortly after noon, and later in the day. It doesn't vary much during the day, maybe a penny or two in relation to EAFE. I've noticed a difference between it and Corvette's estimates for a few months now. I use both to help make decisions. Glad you checked in.:)

I do not understand your thinking. Why would someone use the spreadsheet at noon when the final results of the EAFE is posted.

The spreadsheet tracks stock indexes and not all of the stocks in the I-fund.

The spreadsheet is an estimate. The EAFE finals results is what is used to compute the I-fund.

Question !!!

Since Saturday is May 31 we have to make our second IFT Thursday the 29th:mad: which counts for Friday the 30th.

Please reply if that is how this works because if we did an IFT Friday it would take up the 1st move in June right. Let me know -- THX Braveheart
ANYTIME/ANYDAY BEFORE NOON FRIDAY IS MAY. AFTER NOON FRIDAY IS JUNE.

This isn't any different than it was before the rule change...

IFT POSTING HAS NOT CHANGED, JUST THE NUMBER OF IFT'S.

I am 100% I fund and have been for the past two years. It has done better than the C or S funds, and based on the weak dollar, it should continue to be a good bet. GO I FUND!!!

I went buy-and-hold in the I-fund for 4.5 yrs before I found this site last Dec. I feel fortunate but would never admit being one of those people. haha

Buy and Hold is a valid strategy. Especially over a long period of time.
Hopefully, inflation wouldn't offset any preceived gains. I came to this
site with a Hit & Run mentality. With IFT limits and a short term career,
I wouldn't have changed a thing, unless I was forced to do so. Now, one
must do their homework, study and read. Maybe you could call my new
stategy; Buy and Shelter,,,,, naaaaah ,,,,, Stroke & Hope ,,,,, naaaah
I don't know ! But there are several well experienced members who use
and can validate their Buy & Hold methods. Good Luck to both of you.

Before the I-fund I had the C-fund 100% through the 2000's period coming out way ahead. But I like this way through the forum to make wiser decisions but it probable really comes down to the monkee throwing the dart.

By the way I have a lovely wife & two beautiful daughters(20 & 16). But had to come up with 8 syllables. She doesn't approve of my "market timing". Have to ask Tom if I can change it to just Tom1?

I'm glad I have company, Been sitting in I the last 8 months with the IFT limits bugging me and the nasty letters from the FRTIB. Anyhow, I lowered my contributions to the TSP fund and focsued on the "move my money when I want to approach." I fell in love with a currency exchange program and seem to do well with it, I've beat the stock market to a pulp!

I am paying off the homestead with the rest.

My 1200.00 free money went to Roth IRA.

And I love eating PB&Js while watching my friends spend their retirement at McDonalds! Oh, and I ride my motorcycle to work.... 1/3 the gas means 2/3s the savings!
