Governor Eliot Spitzer who became known as the Sheriff of Wall Street as NYS's Attorney General resigns as NYS Governor under allegations of being a client of an International Prostitution Ring.
Lieutenant Governor David Paterson will replace Gov. Spitzer as the 1st African-American and also the 1st Legally Blind man to be Governor of New York State.

He is a graduate of Columbia University and Hofstra University School of Law.

His father, Basil Paterson, once represented the Harlem district he won in the 1980s.
The elder Paterson became the first non-white secretary of state in New York, an appointed post. In 1970, he was the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor, but lost.
