Sears is now a penny stock

In the latest indignity for a once-grand retailer, the share price fell below $1 on Friday for the first time in the company's history, dropping as much as 15% to 85 cents in midday trading.

Falling into loose-change territory is more than embarrassing. Nasdaq, the exchange where Sears stock trades, could delist the company. That's a long process and would happen next year at the earliest.

I bought 1 share in 2006 because I thought it would be cool to be a part of Eddie Lampert's hedge fund ideas. $117'ish sounds about right. I had a free trade with Scottrade and used it on that POS.

I remember dumping it in the pre-market for something like $70-80 in 2008 on a day it was set to open some 10% down.

Needless to say, I've learned a thing or two since then.
