What short term strategies are you (the royal YOU) employing to determine when to IFT out of the C/S/I funds into either the F for bonds (and continued playing the game) or the G for safety?

Interested in technical but if there are more (singing robins, et al), please feel free to post.

Thanks in advance.

i use the burros-ark system, sort of. it is a combination of momentum, sentiment, and 'gut feel' from market and global news.

some folks call that 'casting goat entrails' or 'reading the tea leaves', but i find that if you let the goat graze on the green tea crop before slaughtering it then you get a more complete picture.

Machine Learning. Coded from 'scratch' a customized kNN algorithm.

How 'bout you? The singular you. :)

I am a MACD mac-daddy. Watching the slopes, watching the bars, convergence and divergence all the way. Loved the movie, enjoy the chartage. MACD is the place for me. Checking volume to validate direction. And now looking at the ADV/DEC volume trends.

Gut and prices. We usually get a rally about this time of the year and during election years we rally right before the first quarter release. I'm staying in the S fund until a little after mid month or cash out a little early probably missed a lil bit more of a rise and then I'll watch it fall in April or in late March. I think the S fund has a little bit more rise to it, but I'll probably cash out before hitting 35. I will put my money in once the markets had a good 5 days leveled rise in summer before the following quarter's numbers. That is completely my gut speaking and should not be followed for investment advice.

Obvious bottoms and tops aside, one of my favorites is the crossovers between the 20/50 EMAs in the ^VIX (CBOE volatility); right now is a buy on equities; just look at how long the index stays low once it crosses that threshold (sorry for the crappy attachment, the dotted vertical line to the right is the March 1 crossover); free money - all you want - is there for the taking right now; all you have to do is buy-buy-buy!!!:
