The only thing that's different about this year is the mid-term elections are just around the corner. So, both sides of the aisle want us, as voters, to get the sense that they can all "just get along" because they care so deeply about this country. They want our latest and lasting impressions of them to be how well they can work together and lead our country, all while letting us know that the wellbeing of their constituents back home is their foremost concern.

Oh, and they want to get re-elected.

And Obama. He isn't capable of disarming a toddler with a sucker in their hand. He would have to stop campaigning long enough to actually interject something meaningful into the debt ceiling or budget negotiations in order to make a difference. Ain't gonna happen.
I predict he'll announce the formation of "yet another bi-partisan committee to deal with our country's financial crisis" (what will that make, the 5th or 6th?). And, of course, all of the committee's recommendations will be ignored (once again), and the announcement will most definitely be made after the 2014 mid-terms. That's been his one and only "disarmament" tactic in 6+ years. That and jogging.......................................away from any serious negotiations in case the $h!% hits the fan.
2014 is the "The Year of Peace and Bi-Partisanship" among our Congressional leaders. At least until the dust settles in November. Then it's back to business as usual.
