Another Boot for an S&P 500 Original

[at The Wall Street Journal] - J.C. Penney, an original member of the S&P 500 when it was constructed in 1957, is getting kicked out of the stock index at the end of the week due to its dwindling market value. Penney is one of 68 original S&P 500 components that are currently in the index, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices. Names such as Campbell Soup Co., General Mills Inc. and Chevron Corp. have been S&P 500 mainstays since the index's inception. But original constituents such as Eastman Kodak Co. and Sears Holding Corp. recently have gotten the boot.
