View Full Version : Last Man Standing Football Pool 2013

Hi all -

It's time for another "Last Man Standing" NFL pool (the software I am using actually calls it a Survivor pool - same thing) for the 2013 - 2014 season.

It's very easy - Here's how it works

You pick one team to win each week (no point spreads). If they lose, you are eliminated. A win or tie and you move on. The only catch is, you can't use the same team more than once during the year.

You must get your pick in by the weekly deadline - before the first game each Sunday. Early games must be picked before they start. All picks will be hidden until the game has begun (for early games) or until the first game on Sunday.

If you fail to make a pick, you get the team that is the largest favorite for the week (that you have not used already).

Good luck to everyone. If you have any questions, please contact me via Private Message (PM) (http://www.tsptalk.com/mb/private.php?do=newpm&u=1) or contact us via email (http://www.tsptalk.com/images/email_support.gif) or use the "contact us" link in the menu on the left on www.tsptalk.com (http://www.tsptalk.com).

Thanks for the e-mail reminder; otherwise I may have missed it.

I noticed it allows us to do multiple entries per account name. I'm guessing we're only supposed to do 1 entry, right?

Yes, one. Not sure why they'd allow more. I better check the settings.

Thanks for playing!

No, no entry fee.

FYI, although the deadline is on Sunday morning, there is a game Thursday night that can be used if you make a pick before game time.

tsptalk

There's still about 20 minutes to make a pick for this year's contest. See the 1st post in this thread for the "how to".

I had the deadline at 10 AM ET and that was wrong. Had my time zones confused. The deadline is 1 PM ET.

Looks like we ended up with 108 players. There was a mistake on first week which thought we had 233 members.

The pool, which rolled over members from last year, gave anyone who did not make a pick in week 1, the default pick. I am having them deleted instead since this pool's fee (for me) is by the number of members. These default pick folks probably don't even know they're in the pool this year.

Denver doesn't see KC until week 11 and then has to play them again week 13, that seems like it was some bad scheduling on the NFL part....almost back to back games for the division?

10-09-2013, 09:08 AM
I still have Denver left but I am not using them against Jax...seems like a waste...I'm going for a sleeper pick to lower my point spread differential...I assume that's the tie breaker if multiples make it all the way through...maybe a bad approach who knows

Wha in another group I belong to we pick against the spread and I called a push in that game (NE win with last minute FG), so much for my crystal ball.

I think I mught go and review the NE games over the past 4 years I've picked against the spread and see their % of covering the spread when favored. I know under Brady they are 0-4 in Super Bowls, they weren't favored in the first one against STL. I'd be surprised if they covered point spread favorage in over 20% of their road games.

Agree. I lost a lot of money giving the points with the Pats in both Superbowls vs. the Giants. I didn't learn after the first one. I didn't realize they didn't cover all 4 they were favored.

Oh, and sorry, but we won't be handing out 26 (or 27) third place prizes because of the ties. :toung:

It's possible that we could keep it going to break the ties, but unfortunately it would have to be done in this thread and not on the pool site, and I doubt that would work.

This is the organization that won championships with names like Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman. The only thing they will win with Orton against the Eagles is an ass-kicking. The Eagles will go into Dallas, force Orton into a bushel of turnovers and smother the Cowboys. In doing so, the Eagles will also inadvertently redirect the future of the Dallas franchise.
