I was just wondering. Would anyone be interested in telling whether you are FERS or CSRS? I'm just curious because it seems I don't have enough bones in my TSP and I'm guessing it's because most everyone contributes more or they must be pretty high up the GS-level to have 100's $ in the TSP.

Thanx for everyone's input so far. It seems to date most are in FERS. Those of us that are CSRS are almost lifers (30+ years Govt. service) The branch that employs me U.S.P.S. seems to be doing it's best to get us retired ASAP. Thank God I didn't transfer to FERS when offered.

Congrats BREWNET! ! ! But don't go beyond that 40/4 you'll be wasting time for more retirement from CSRS.

Brewnet
06-22-2005, 10:41 AM
Thanks; man that looks fun! I actually wanted to max out at 41 yrs 11 mos, but I don't think so anymore. I'm sure you understand that part.

I would like thank everyone again who responded to the survey. Just as I had suspected, most are FERS. There is no need for further replies. Tom after this post can you delete all and close the survey?

I'll just put in my two cents. FERS with 20, going for 25 and then I'm outtahere. I kick in the max 15% plus 4k catch-upboth of which will escalate annually. Not bad on a GS12 salary but we do get a25% SSR which helps

What I want to know is, when there is just one guy left in federal service in CSRS, who is going to pay his entitlement?

Dave

We talk and learn to manage our funds ourselves. None of the members to my knowledge are licensed financial advisors. Surely don't want the SEC after us.

Personally, Not really! But I like to see what others are doing to get any new ideas.

Plus I find some comic relief in some people...they make me laugh when they get on each other.

CSRS max % contribution from begining of TSP (was 5% for a long time). Now10% + catch up. Since there is no matching in CSRS I may drop down the TSP contribution to fund a Roth IRA, a way to diversify fund sources in retirement.
