Friday we get the April jobs report. Anyone want to make a prediction on the number of jobs (non-farm payrolls) gained / lost??

Briefing.com has a consensus estimate near +155,000.

There's a blue travel mug up for grabs for the closest pick.

You can't pick a number already taken and each guess must be rounded to 1000's. (ex: +201,000, -14,000, +195,000, +176,000, -5,000, etc. - no 100's)


I'll take predictions until 12:00 midnight ET on Thursday night.

Not likely just on this jobs report because they have specifically said 6.5% and there is no way it is dropping that far... besides, in their meeting notes they talked about increasing it too if necessary...

It makes you wonder why they bother to post these initial results. They are rarely close to the final number.

Thanks. It was indeed just a lucky guess. I don't have any more knowledge than all of the good folks here. Tom, your contests are one of the really fun things about this site. Of course, winning helps :). I keep on telling the Lotto people that - me winning would make me like it more - but they haven't gotten the hint.
