Seems like the message board has been loading slow since Sunday. Not timing out, but definitly slower compared to my usual TSP surfing.

+1.

And the home page had been frozen in time for most of the weekend. Not sure if that has been resolved or not.

Latest Forum Post still shows Tom's comment on the LMBF thread, and the Latest Blog Post is the Weekly Wrap Up. I think it's still stuck. ;)

With the database moves, I think the links might be bad for a few things.

Tom, I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but since the last upgrade the forum/message board link appears lethargic. It's been taking about 10 seconds to load, and it loads chunky. I'm running Firefox V16.0.2 It loads slow at work too (although much of that can be attributed to a proxy server.) 10 seconds may not seem like a lot of time, but when you click on that link as much as I do, it seems like an eternity... :D

Yep a little hesitant and I'm IE9!

Thanks. I've been having the techs watch during the normally slow periods for something wrong. Hopefully it's fixable.

We're supposed to be moving to cloud servers, whatever that actually means, but it should mean better performance once the conversion is completed.

I hope it works. 21634

He picked a VERY bad time to start. :(

Where are those clouds located, probably 3 million scattered servers or something?

tsptalk

FYI, the move to "the cloud" servers was completed. I haven't noticed much of a difference and the only way I have to verify that it was actually done was that after it was completed, the server times were different and had to be reset.

We're heading into the busy hour on the forum (11 AM ET 12:00 noon) so if you notice anything (good or bad) performance-wise, etc., let me know so we can check it out. It is Friday and Friday's tend to be a little lighter traffic-wise. After New Years we'll probably get a better idea.

Thanks!

Tom, did you switch servers a month or two ago or was it just some upgrade? Whatever it was, do you have a "restore" point? ;)

I was in the middle of a post when I got asked to recover webpage. Auto save saved me and my attachments were already there to upload.

As Yogi Berra once said... Nobody comes here anymore. It's too crowded. :)

Website crazy slow right now. Was not even loading a few minutes ago.

Yup, sorry about that. Monday and alert day. Just rebooted the servers.

By the end of the week we will be upgrading to new, faster, (expensive) servers. If that doesn't help I don't know what to do.

Ouch! But hopefully it means more revenue!

That last upgrade hasn't been kind to me, aside from the slower forum, I'm still having difficulties embedding pictures within the text window, using FireFox. I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same issue as me using Firefox.

That may have been the forum software update. This would be a hardware change.

Thanks, I haven't taken the time to investigate what is going on, is the picture uploader/embedder using JAVA?

Website slow again for me today, not as bad as yesterday though. Also the premium page has some issues, small text, information out of whack.

I'm not sure, but I could ask. Are you using attachments or images from a URL?

Sound like attachments. You probably know more about this than I do, but have you tried using Photobucket to upload images, then "Insert Image /from URL"?

That's what I do and I haven't had any problems, but I use Chrome and IE mostly.

Thanks for keeping me posted. We haven't hit peak time yet so it could get worse.

We have not yet converted to the new servers. There's a copy of the site out there in test mode and I can look around, but it doesn't have any users to test how it does under higher traffic. Hopefully some time this week although it may be safer to do it over the weekend.

Just regular attachments, I don't use photobucket because my network doesn't permit its use. It does work, just takes a long time before it works and lots of clicks. Sometimes the uploader freezes the entire FF and doesn't do anything for a solid minute. It sure reminds me of a Java issue probably on my end, I'll try some other PCs in the house.

I haven't had nearly as many picture posting issues today as I have in the past, problem is i haven't done anything different.

And we haven't upgraded yet but the new servers are about ready to go. I've been looking for issues on the test site. I can do anything except run a stress test, which is what we really need. It should be in place my Monday morning, if not sooner.
