Harley Davidson shares rallied on Wednesday after the motorcycle maker reported an almost 10 percent rise in first-quarter earnings as strong U.S. sales boosted revenue to a new high.

Apple Computer said Wednesday that increased sales of Macintosh computers and iPod digital music players helped second-quarter net income grow more than 300 percent from the year-ago period.

Texas Instruments reported first quarter net income Wednesday that tripled from the year-ago level as overall sales grew 34 percent with semiconductor business taking the lead.

Agree, other than Intel, the earnings have been shining so far.

Obviously people looking for alternatives to rising gas cost (Harley).Interesting. Are we glad we moved some into C and S based on the market's end showing?

I am glad I only did the 35% in stocks. The close was nice to see as the indices tried to get back to even, but the breadth (number of advancing issues vs. number ofdeclining issues) is still troubling. The decliners outnumbered advancers 7 to 2 today on the NYSE. That is very weak internals. So, I'm glad I'm in but I'm also glad I'm not too exposed. :^

In early afternoon trade, the Nikkei Average plunged 303 points, or 2.5 percent, to 11,794.81, while the broader Topix was down 27 points, or 2.2 percent, at 1,190.62.

Good or Bad for Thursday?

Surprising actually. Japan has atech rich stock market and I would have thought they would have liked the recent U.S. earnings announcements from AMD, Apple, and Texas Instruments and went with that.They've been up big lately though.
