I had mentioned earlier that TSP.gov has been giving me a hard time over the site. I found outthatthey didn't like me linking to pages within their site and, after a little tug-of-war, I found out that they only wanted me to link to their home page. Once I realized this, I immediately complied.

Well it didn't end there. In the interim, they reported me to my agency and I am being investigated. While my agency's investigating office seem to agree that I did what I was asked, they were not happy with the number of times I accessed the site from my office.I agreed it was probably excessive but that I didn't realize it was as high as it was. I told them I was only trying to help people and that my work was not suffering because of it (and my manager confirmed this). The investigation is still pending so I don't know exactly what will happen.

One thing I do know is that I probably won't be accessing the site,or replyingtomessagesduring my tour of duty. I hope you understand. In the meantime, be careful from where and when you access this site. I'd hate to see anyone else get in hot water over it.

I'll continue to update the comments daily and reply to posts in the evening or whenever I'm not in the office.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Tom,

Why doesn't Tsp.govwant you to link to their internal pages? Most web sites would LOVE to have traffic pushed to them.In addition, it's not like you're the only web site in the universe pointing to them. Googling "C Fund TSP" brings up 2,500 hits.

Anyway, keep up the good work. You're providing a very innovative, useful, entertaining, andinformative service. :^

Their argument is that people will think they are TSP Talk pages andnot theirs.I had also cut and paste some info I thought would be useful but because they could update their site, they were worried I'd have outdated info. I wasn't trying to anything slick and I complied to their requests. I just wish they would have contacted me through the site rather than through my agency.

That argument is insulting on so many levels.

TSP government weenies: Just because you work for the government does not obligate you to save people from themselves. :?

You were the nice guy and accommodated their request-- even though you did not have to do so--and yet they return the favour by playing games, byplaying hardball and reporting you. They should be thankful that it was not I with whom they dealt, for I am not a "nice guy".

Now on my to-do list: TSP AEnima web site with links to every f------ thing...withlink-checks every two seconds leaving no bandwidth unused. :X

Guh, I am in a pissy mood....On top of all the other reasons I hate life right now...I lost a lot of money in the market this week...the pinheads where I work blocked this messageboard, so I was frickin bored all week (do they actually expect people to think "gee...I can't screw off on my favourite web site anymore...I guess I'll go look for more work to do!" duh HEL-LoooOOOOooo!)...and both air conditioners in my house went out. The bottom line is that it is much less work for the TSP folks (who probably can screw off on web sites at work)if people are passive andmake few changes to their accounts. This site encourages active management of one's own account, which means that the TSP people must--Oh my G-d!--put the mouse down and do their jobs.

Duh, I think I heard that argument about 10 years ago when we put up our first web site. Haven't heard it since. Tim Berners-Lee's vision of the web was to allow usersto navigate through information regardless of where it is physically located. Luddites!

It's quite ironic... TSP "encourages" participants to actively manage their accounts so they don't lose money.

It sounds like they don't like TSPTalk because it too encourages us to manage our accounts.

We KNOW TSP reads these replies, so they need to show their face and explain themselves!

What's the big deal, TSP... are we creating too much work for ya???:P

    Show yourself and respond.

Incidentally, I would never confuseTsp.gov with Tsptalk.com. Your pages are MUCH more professional looking! :^

I can't say I'm surprised a government agency would stoop to that.

Wow, the market crashed through its May lows, and now Tom's not posting as much. Talk about bad timing.
