I agree. This is not a popularity contest and having a â€œpopularity indicatorâ€ does nothing but distract some and feeds the egoâ€™s of others. I vote that Tom remove the â€œManaâ€.

There are many members who do not post...., "the silent majority." Those members might want to thank specifically a given member for an informative post. Mana, reputation, or other systems provide for that.

Anyone who is a member can send a pm to any other member to say thank you, to ask questions, whatever, if they don't want their handle showing up on the board. If they want the rest of the board to know that person has been very helpful, then they can do a post.

I, myself, am curious as to who gave me the two - but not curious enough to bother Tom about how do I track these folks down.
