Thread: Vacations

    Default Vacations

I saw a couple of our members talking about upcoming cruises they are planning. I figured maybe we need an area to discuss recent vacations or vacations you are planning.

    - Any good ideas for vacations?
    - Want to share your good / bad experience?
    - Any recommendations?
    - Any good deals out there right now?
    - etc....

    I think that's a great idea.

    Great idea Tom.

I didn't even think about passing this around until now. My son-in-law sent me to this website a few years ago. It is for government employees, military and government contractors. You can get some decent discounts for trips, cruises, airfare and hotel stays. It is called Government Vacation Rewards. Government Vacation Rewards: Exclusive Government & Military Discount Travel. Save up to $150. www.GovVacationRewards.com/facebook

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art up here in Bentonville (Northwest Arkansas) now has one of the 20 known copies of the Declaration of Independence on display in their American Hisory exhibitions...till September. This Museum and acres of trails, woodland, etc, opened last fall - and I have forgotten how many tens of thousands of folks have gone thru since... Anyone coming this way, let me know if you would like to meet up for a cup of coffee, a coke or something.

Vegas in August. Sold enough airline miles for us two. In December will get one round trip for $11.00 with one full fare (with use of Alaska Air credit card. I love the pool slide in the Golden Nugget hotel.

Maybe 90 minutes, bearing south on Missouri 65 and then west on AR 62.
Lots to do/see in this whole area. Convenient for you coming east or going back.

Any special show going to in Branson? Report is JOSEPH is outstanding.
-and of course, there is the Shepherd of the Hills just out of Branson. When the kids were little we would go there.

I have heard the same thing about Joseph. I hope we can catch it. We will be there for three days.. so far my wife wants to go to the tower at the Sheperds of the Hills and maybe the zip lines. We are going to play it by ear on this trip. Really just wanted to spend the time on Table Rock Lake but we will try to take in at least one show while we are there.

    Has anyone been to Peru?

I have a 18 day trip planned at the end of the year (Nov/Dec) and was wondering what the weather will be like. I know it's their spring/summer and a chance of being rainy.

I plan to travel light with a large backpack or dufflelpack. The first week I'll be on the Amazon River travelling to a village in the rainforest, so I'm thinking it will be warm and humid. The 2nd week I'll be heading to
Cusco and Machu Picchu which is higher elevations, but, how cold?

You know women, we like to overpack, and this trip I don't want to. I don't even own a sweater or a coat, so, I'd like to buy something in between for cold and rain. Of course, I'll have to shop on the mainland before I go, cuz Hawaii only sells t-shirts, shorts, bathing suits and slippahs.

I'm very excited for this adventure. I'm travelling alone and meeting some other like- minded adventurers when I get to Lima. I just hope I don't end up a star on "Locked Up Abroad." I hear those cocoa leaves are good.

Can't help you with this, but make sure to save room in your backpack for a TSP Mug. Love those Mug Shots!

i can't recommend them from personal experience, but these sound like they may do the trick:
