    Something odd....

Look at the top 13 allocations and you'll see something strange. The only two allocations you'll see for Monday is 100% G or 100% I.

    Squirrels 7 Bulls 3

Reminds me of the squirrels running down the tree, gathering a few nuts, and scurrying back up the tree.
Whereas the bulls are standing in the arena waiting for the matador. Not a good scenario for the bulls.

My friend, you ever seen a squirrel caught between four tires that are moving? It's called panic. Too much focus on a single trade causes the fear levels to rise. As this occurs, market timers become hesitant and cautious, trying to avoid mistakes. The risks of choking under pressure (not making a trade) builds. The desire to be right is in direct opposition to the ability to make money. Trying to read between the lines makes me wonder how many young men in their mid twenties have enough balance to push around - it does make bunny hopping easier when there is minimal dough on the line. The fear of loss can keep a market timer from executing a trade - or is it capital appreciation - anyway it takes all kinds of strategies to make a market.

As one of the "squirrels" I find it interesting that my choice to be in the G fund was described in general terms as being motivated by "fear," "panic," "hesitation," "caution," and "choking." To be fair, Birch does admit that it takes all kinds to make a market...only after starkly categorizing those that differ from his buy and hold strategy. Also to be fair, I am a big fan of Birch's postings and have read them for quite some time...and truly took little offense to this one, I just wanted to poke a little fun at him.

My "bunny hoping approach" as he describes it has based around the tried and truism that "pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered." On a monthly basis if I have some good days in the stock market and get up .5-1.5 %, I will go to the G fund unless something I read on this site or in the WS Journal makes me think otherwise. I read all of the postings of last years top performers and make my moves accordingly...not out of fear, or a lack of testosterone.

Best of luck to everyone with all investment methods.

Well said, I read all the top performers comments (this year and lasts) - even if they are so humble, they emphatically deny they have any skill (you know who you are ). I'm all for continued new highs, but most of the major foreign and domestic indexs have not seen new highs in weeks - that is typically a good sign that the market is about to correct - so I am inclined to describe your position as "sensible", "calculated" etc....but get ready to hop faast 'cause we could see the shorts get squeezed real hard before the correction comes.

I don't know what squeezing the shorts means (except sometimes I do it to my husband playfully).....
